Retention Coaching

Helping You Navigate Courses, Challenges and Life

Life doesn’t care that you’re a college student trying to balance work, family, friends and classes, but retention coaches care. We see you — all of you — and the responsibilities you’re juggling. Lean on us to help you conquer the challenges both great and small that might keep you from graduating.

Think of us as your college life coach. Sure, we’ll talk about academics, goal-setting, strategies for studying and navigating higher education, but we’ll also talk about what’s going on in your life outside the classroom. We’ll explore who you want to be and where you want to go, and help you develop the self-confidence and skills to get there.

Anyone can talk to a retention coach. Even when things are going great, life can be a bit noisy. We’ll help you cut through all of that to reach your goals.

Best of all, sessions are free to all students. You’ve got this. You belong here, and we are excited to see you shine.

We’re here to help you find that sweet spot — that balance where your life is going the way you want it to. In our sessions, we shine a light on areas that you might have overlooked.

More Resources

Retention coaches are one part of a much bigger student support system at MATC. So, who can you turn to when you need help?

Pathway Advisors

Once you pick a program (a huge first step in your educational journey), you will meet with a Pathway advisor who works with students in programs like yours. Your Pathway advisor works with you to pick classes based on program requirements and your schedule.

MENTAL HEALTH

Being a college student can be overwhelming. Sometimes you need help coping with a past experience or trauma. When you need that additional support, turn to Counseling and Psychological Services. Licensed professional counselors offer confidential services in person and over the phone at no cost. There’s even virtual help available 24/7. Find out your options at matc.edu/CAPS.
