Graduation
Graduation is the act of receiving or conferring of an academic degree or diploma after all requirements are completed successfully. Commencement is the ceremony you may attend if you are eligible for the semester you have applied for graduation.
Students should apply for graduation on or before October 31 if they anticipate completing in a fall semester and apply on or before March 31, if they anticipate completing in a summer or spring semester.
To be included in commencement books, potential graduate lists, participate in graduation honor awards, and attend the ceremony (virtual or face to face), students must apply by due dates each semester.
Students may attend the commencement ceremony of the semester they apply for if deemed eligible only. If the deadline date is missed, students may still apply for graduation, be completed (if requirements met), and receive their degree but will not be able to attend a commencement ceremony in the following semesters. Therefore it is important to apply by the deadline date of the appropriate semester.
