The Ellen and Joe Checota MATC Scholarship Program provides students the chance to accelerate careers. This full-ride scholarship is designed to remove financial barriers so students can earn their technical diploma or certificate and advance in careers faster.
HOW DO I APPLY?
- To apply for the Fall 2025 Checota Scholarship Cohort, complete this application.
- Please note: this scholarship is available on a first-come first-served basis.
WHAT DOES IT COVER?
This is a "last dollar" scholarship, meaning that these items are funded after all other state, federal, and other financial assistance is applied.
- Tuition and course fees
- Required books and equipment/supplies through the MATC Bookstore
- Child care (during classes, advising and commute time) reimbursed through MATC Children’s Centers or a state-licensed child care provider
- Food through MATC Campus Meal Plan and grocery gift cards
- Transportation through MCTS U-PASS, fund for purchasing parking permits, and funds for daily parking (Downtown Campus only)
- Beginning Fall 2025, housing support at Westown Green will no longer be covered for entering Checota Scholars.
You have up to 18 months of funding through the Checota MATC Scholarship Program to complete your program.
Please note: if you are granted this award, you are no longer eligible for other MATC Foundation scholarships.
HOW DO I STAY IN THE PROGRAM?
- Continue to register for at least nine credits per semester. (Exceptions may be provided for students in their last semester or who are receiving accommodations through the college)
- Earn a 2.0 GPA or higher each term and complete (earn) 67% of the credits attempted in a semester.
- Complete a FAFSA annually.
- Agree to participate in post-graduation surveys.
