Every day, patients in our community need blood transfusions to survive. They rely on the generosity of donors who help ensure a safe, healthy blood supply. Sign up to donate during our on-campus blood drive Monday, February 10, 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Downtown Milwaukee Campus, S Building, third floor lounge. Please bring a photo ID on the day of the event.

Join the MATC Athletic Department and the Office of Student Life at the Stormers' men's and women’s Black History Month Recognition Basketball Games on Tuesday, February 11th at 5 p.m. for women’s and 7 p.m. for men’s. The first 100 students receive a Black History Month Stormers T-shirt!

Free admission for MATC students with a valid Stormer Pass student ID. Home games are played at Alverno College’s Reiman Gymnasium. Parking is available in the E Lot.

The Loyola Project: Movie Screening and Panel Discussion

Stage Play - The Letter to Martin Reincarnation Tour featuring “Words from the Trail

Student Life invites you to enjoy the stage play “Words From the Trail.” The production offers a compelling exploration of an often overlooked chapter in American history. The stage play delves into a generational conflict between Uncle Jake, a veteran of the Civil Rights Movement, and his nephew, a successful gospel singer who believes the fight for equality has ended. Create Gallery: Tracing Your Roots

Clayborn Benson, founder and Executive Director of the Wisconsin Historical Society will lead an impactful discussion on the importance of genealogy and understanding where we come from. 

The event will be held in MATC's Create Gallery and Camus Cafe. The current gallery exhibit, "Building Legacies," highlights the work of Dr. James Cameron, founder of America's Black Holocaust Museum and Mr. Benson, who has been labeled as one of Wisconsin's most knowledgeable African American historians.

Later, Cheryl Randall (MATC retiree) and other members of the Executive Board of the African American Genealogy Society of Milwaukee (Myrelene Saunders, Brenda Thompson, and Chuck Powell) will conduct research and provide personal information to you as they trace your roots.

The Zal Top project is a Senegalese Afro-jazz fusion band that infuses indigenous West African music with jazz. They will deliver a concert (two sets with intermission) and facilitate a talk-back session with the band to explore concepts of culture, globalization, identity and belonging. The concert will promote cross-cultural understanding across borders, languages and traditions, while educating our community about the global fusion and dynamism of music and culture.

Black Author Nook and Display of Notable African Americans

The Multicultural Student Services Office hosts a “Bring One, Take One” bookshelf featuring works by notable African American authors. If you have books to donate, please bring them to Room M238. While you can donate books now, the bookshelf will be available through the month of February. This is a great opportunity for students, faculty and staff to share, discover and celebrate the voices and stories of the African American community!

MoveMENT Mondays

Get your walk on and improve your health by walking at any of MATC’s campuses and the Education Center at Walker’s Square during "MoveMENT Mondays!" Students and employees are encouraged to walk a minimum of 30 minutes on Mondays, 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Walks can be inside or outside if you want to brave the cold. Take a picture and share it on MATC social media using #MATCMoveMENT Mondays. Four wellness prizes will be awarded (the most miles/steps/time + BONUS activities). To qualify for a wellness prize, document your MoveMENT and complete the entry form each Monday.
