MATC ReStart provides a scholarship for eligible returning students to pay off up to $1,500 of a past-due balance owed to the college for items such as tuition, books and other fees.

ReStart is breaking down the barriers that stand between you and your dreams of going back to MATC. 

 

 Who is eligible?

Students with an existing MATC student account balance (past due debt) of $1,500 or less whose last attendance at MATC was between December 2007 and December 2023.  

Note: This program does not apply to debt owed on student loans.

 

What are the eligibility requirements for the program?

Students must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Have an existing past-due balance with MATC of $1,500 or less stemming from the dates listed in the bullet below (ie no new balances)
  • Have last attended MATC between December 2007 and December 2023.
  • Have already earned at least six college-level credits at MATC
  • Be registered for at least six additional college-level credits by financial aid census date (three credits if starting in the summer semester)
  • Have not completed an associate degree or higher
  • Have established a way to pay for their tuition (including qualifying for Financial Aid, setting up a payment plan, or qualifying for another MATC Foundation scholarship)

What are the continuation requirements for the program?

Students must:

  • Register for at least six college-level credits each semester (students may also register for Summer courses and must take at least six credits to be eligible)
  • Earn a term GPA of 2.0 or higher each semester
  • Earn 67% of credits attempted during the semester
  • Complete a FAFSA for each academic year or enter into a payment plan
  • Attend at least one meeting with a member of their Pathway team or at least one student resource workshop hosted by MATC during the semester
