PROGRAM FOR RECENT HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES (2025)

Not sure what to do after high school? Thinking about taking a gap year? This program is for you! 

Join the Fall cohort of students who will participate in a 10-week Career and Exploration program to help inspire What’s Next!

The MATC Gap Year program starts on September 11th, 2025 and meets Thursdays through November 13th 2025

Meet area employers and organizations making the city a better place along with the MATC college programs visits and get inspired to new career and education opportunities.

10-week Career and Education Exploration includes:

  • Supported MATC Admission and 1 college credit earned for participating.
  • Access to local employers and MATC Faculty and staff
  • Complimentary transportation to and from   MATC as well as throughout the program
  • Complimentary lunch & snacks at every session
  • Participation stipend
  • Career readiness services
  • Access to employers, career coaches, mentors and alumni network all year long
  • Eligibility for the MATC Promise scholarship after completion of the program, which provides up to 75 credits of free tuition

Program Eligibility

  • In order receive a participation stipend, applicants MUST be Milwaukee County residents
    (Applicants outside of Milwaukee County but within the Milwaukee Area Technical College district are eligible to participate, but will not receive a stipend)
  • Applicants must have graduated High school in 2025 (limited exceptions may be made for 2024 graduates)
  • Applicants must have a demonstrated financial need as determined by household income not exceeding $75,000
  • Applicants cannot be a high school student at the time of the program start, and applicants cannot have attended MATC in the past or currently be enrolled (with the exception of dual enrollment classes taken during HS)
