Commitment to Diversity
MATC is promoting the economic opportunities for diverse businesses and enterprises through its HUB program. MATC’s mission is to increase the amount of goods and services acquired from historically underutilized businesses and help eliminate barriers for these businesses to participate in the marketplace. It is the policy of the Board and its administration to protect the interests of these entities and to ensure the proportion of the total purchases, contracts, or subcontracts placed with HUBs is fair.
Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) is a company level diversity certification that is generally issued by a State Government to increase the amount of goods and services acquired by that state from HUBs. The program is in place to help businesses that are at least 51% owned by minorities such as Black, Hispanic, Asian-American, American Indian, Female or a Socially and Economically Disadvantaged person, Disabled-Owned or a Disabled Business Enterprise gain exposure to state procurement and contracting opportunities.
MATC's goal is to achieve 20% HUB participation in its construction projects and purchases. MATC enforces initial and quarterly HUB reporting requirements.
